Subway Salad

As much as I love vacations, I also love coming home and being in my routine again:)This salad was sooo good! And I cannot tell a lie, I CHEATED. We picked up salads at Subway because we just got home and haven’t shopped yet. I don’t use their meats because most, if not all, are too processed and high in sodium.

I added my own reduced fat feta and a little organic balsamic vinegar and oil as dressing. Yah, their fluffy bread footlongs tempts me like no other But 90% of the time I choose what I *need* and like vs. what I *want* and crave

Get Your Cardio In!

When I need to get some cardio in WITH my lift, I do cardio drills in between sets like airjacks with resistance bands, jumping lunges, speed skaters, etc (if its a leg day), and if its an upper body day, I’ll do pushups, doubleunders, mountain climbers, etc. in between sets.

Banana Chocolate Chip VitaTop

You like?!?! For an occasional sweet treat to substitute instead of something worse, try this quick fix which also has 23g of protein. It’s a banana chocolate chip VitaTop, found in your grocery freezer section, {{warmed up}} with 1cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt sweetened with 2 “Stevia in the Raw” packets.

Made this way, it’s just 200calories, 23g protein and 15g sugar; not too bad! I just wouldn’t recommend this as a daily “habit” but more as an occasional treat when you feel that urge to splurge;) I added a couple banana slices for presentation purposes 😉

You’re Not The Only One

  • …tempted to splurge at night;
  • …wondering why you seem heavier even though you’ve been on track;
  • …wanting to stop the workout when it JUST began;
  • …working out with an injury;
  • …working harder than someone else but not seeing similar results;
  • …struggling to balance family, work, life, AND be fit;
  • …having feelings of self-doubt;

Even the fittest people I know, struggle with all these things too. They have ups and downs too. They just choose to learn from their mistakes, appreciate what they DO have and CAN DO, and they continually pick themselves up to move forward stronger and smarter than before. You are not the only one trying to move yourself forward, but you ARE the only one who can move YOU forward.

Pack Your Food!

How often do you dine out/pick up food each week? Honestly, I still feel bloated and probably up a couple pounds from Disney. And it’s not even like I went crazy splurging and I worked out daily! Ughhh. Just goes to show, avoid dining out and pack your food AS MUCH AS HUMANELY POSSIBLE for work and travel.

Even the seemingly healthy menu items often have hidden ingredients making them high sodium, high fat, high sugar, high calorie, etc.

Ok, so now on to the next trip, but this one is a 100% vacation so there will be some skinny margaritas involved fer shizzle!:) But lots of working out too!

Beach fun

Happy Easter!! This is Monica Gray and I trying to get an Instagram-worthy pose going!

Happy Good Friday!

And we have arrived 🙂 That’s a lonnnng trip from Ohio. But this view from our room tonight makes it worth it. Happy Good Friday to all!

Choose Your Splurge

When I’m at the airport, I’d LOVE to have a Starbucks and a reduced fat muffin or one of those BIG turkey sandwiches on that THICK bread. But lets be honest, those are hardly clean eats. I’d rather save my splurges for the special dinners out and the trips to get frozen yogurt with the family. Everyday there are temptations.Make a conscious choice and move on:)

Leg Day

Are you afraid to lift heavy with your legs (due to a fear of bulking)? If you want your legs to be lean and strong, take your “leg day” seriously. My legs are smaller but leaner even though I’m lifting heavier than I had for years. Those are LARGE muscles which means they’re big fat burners! You get leaner ALL OVER (yes, abs too)! Of course you have to simultaneously pay attention to your nutrition and be incorporating HIIT workouts too 😉

Family

Having a great time at the arcade and pool with family!
