Workout Gear Matters!
/in Blog, Train Mean /by Jenelle SummersHopefully this doesn’t sound shallow but if you workout with mirrors, there’s NO DOUBT your outfit can affect your workout, right?! When you like the way you look (& there’s no doubt certain clothes are more flattering than others… doesn’t have to be expensive!), you have more positive thoughts & more positive self-talk, you perform better! Whether it be some new shoes or a couple new T-shirts.. Do that for yourself if you can! I usually teach a terrible class if my outfit is unflattering. If you only workout in your home gym and with no mirrors, maybe this is irrelevant to you but I DO recommend mirrors for form check.

/in Blog, Train Mean /by Jenelle SummersUnless you are genetically blessed with a lot of muscle, low body fat & a high metabolism, then you need to start taking your strength training seriously NOW, along with clean eating of course. Hoping you can cardio-away a bad diet will put you into a vicious cycle. As we age, we lose muscle which causes our metabolisms to slow, our “curves” to sag, and makes us more prone to injury …UNLESS you counteract that & GAIN muscle as you learn to eat cleaner !
Grilled Chicken Pocket with Salsa
/in Blog, Eat Clean /by Jenelle SummersYou probably can’t fully see, but this pocket is PACKED with grilled chicken (made really quickly in my Foreman grill!! Love it!), Spring Mix, reduced fat Sharp Cheddar cheese, with ~2T Fage 0% Plain Greek Yogurt (like sour cream to me!), and salsa on the side that I spoon in as i eat! I don’t put the salsa IN the pocket because there’s NOTHING worse than soggy bread! You could do this sandwich with a WRAP too, but again, I wouldn’t put the salsa IN it 😉 This was ~300 calories.
Cinnamon Raisin Ezekiel Toast with Banana
/in Blog, Eat Clean /by Jenelle SummersI was craving carbs & something sweet this afternoon (which pretty much goes for EVERY afternoon) so I try to make sure they’re “good carbs”. This is cinnamon raisin Ezekiel toast (which around here is sold in pretty much all the general grocery stores, just in the FREEZER section.. very easy to miss it too!!) with a half banana & shared between both pieces of toast. And then i mixed up some cinnamon and stevia to sprinkle on top! Another sweet/bad craving successfully CRUSHED. And it was quick & easy!
