No Short Cuts

No Short Cuts

Fitness & health is caring for your body & it should be a part of your life just like brushing your teeth. If you’ve found some kind of short cut to fat loss that allows you to eat whatever you want or NOT work out, how do you think that “freedom” will affect your future health?

Real health & fitness isn’t found in those short cut ways

Fitting in workouts

Fitting in Workouts

Got a lot of moving done today but still fit in our workouts, thankfully so because it needed to be a pizza night 🍕

I don’t do planned cheat nights, I just eat healthy about 80-90% of the time & we usually get pizza once every 1-2 weeks. It’s my favorite 💕 It’s not that I don’t splurge, I just don’t call it or consider it “cheating” ..how I eat is how I eat to live my best life.

Fitting in workouts

Working out was just not happening today but that’s ok!

Yah, working out was just not happening today but that’s ok!

The clean eating & intermittent fasting was just not happening today either ..but that’s ok!

When I miss a workout, since I rarely do, I tell myself it was a needed rest day and when I eat too many carbs in a day, I call it refeeding. It helps me stay on track to tell myself I’m still very ON track

Happiness is in the mind of the beholder.
And so basically I should be good and ready to kill it tomorrow!

How bout you??

Don’t skip your workout just because you don’t have time to do the WHOLE thing

I found 20 minutes between commitments this morning & that’s all I needed!

In fact, I’ve done many effective workouts in less than 10 minutes! Not every day has to be about scorching a bajillion calories or making “gains” anyway; some maintenance days that just keep your head in the game are fine.

Don’t skip your workout just because you don’t have time to do the WHOLE thing, or won’t have the right equipment or space. If it’s not meant to be a rest day, something is better than nothing because one day can turn into 2 which turns into 3 and before you know it, you “feel” off track, your eating starts slacking & it’s a downward spiral that can happen. And re-starting is tough!

Me, Chalene and our younger brother Bill

Me, Chalene and our younger brother Bill at our parents’ 50th wedding anniversary!

He’s not on social media much but he & his wife Gwen have 4 amazing kids and their own successful business!

Do you do breakfast for dinner?

Do u do breakfast for dinner??

This was …

  • 1 whole egg
  • 5 servings Egg Whites
  • Mini sweet peppers
  • Baby Spinach
  • Avocado
  • Hummus

And I melted a little shredded cheese too

Morning Star Veggie Burger

You like??
Not a full meal but I’ve been on a weird eating schedule today so I was hungry & when hungryI eat.

This is a veggie burger.  Sweet Earth Teriyaki is my norm but this was a Morning Star veggie burger & it was actually delish! Topped with hummus, avocado dressing by Tessemaes & some shredded cheese

Mini Leg Day

What was your Saturday workout?

My Mini Leg Day looked like this:
25 min’s of row/spin intervals,

Then 4 rounds of ….

  • Hamstring curls on stability ball
  • Jumping deep lunges
  • Romanian Deadlifts
  • Hip thrusts on stability ball.
  • Weighted Walking Lunges

Reps were anywhere from 12-18 today; whatever it takes to achieve muscle failure in each set. Again, 4 rounds of the above. I focused more on isolating glutes & hamstrings specifically since our squat rack isn’t set up yet.

Happy Anniversary – 23 Years!

23 years?! Yeppp!!
Happy Anniversary to my best friend & the best Dad to our son!!

Matt & I married young (right out of college) & I’m sure many thought it wouldn’t last!

But we first met when we were 12 yrs old (met at the lake) & we hung out like friends in the summers –no one was funnier and more athletic!

I knew his priorities, his humor & his love of sports and fitness lined up with mine!

Obviously not all marriages work out, & it may be better to part ways, but we feel blessed to have made it 23yrs & plan on the rest of our lives
