How I Overcame My Sweet Tooth and Carb Cravings

I’ve been asked many times how I was able to overcome my massive sweet tooth & cravings for carbs. Welll…

First of all, I DO run a no-purchase-required Sugar Buster group to help you with this (comment if you want in) but here are 10 other things that helped me in case it helps you 👇🏼

1. Avoiding artificial sweeteners -so many zero sugar drinks spike insulin & cause cravings (& bloating)
2. Not eating before bed so I sleep better
3. Going to bed earlier
4. Taking a supplement that also helps with my sleep; Magnesium Glycinate

LACK OF SLEEP CAN BE CAUSING YOU CRAVINGS

5. De-stressing which meant creating time in my schedule for downtime – stretch, get outside!
6. Avoiding processed & refined sugars -getting more healthy fats in & less grazing (oops that’s like 3 things)
7. Tricking my cravings with fun foods that LOOK & taste delicious but are low glycemic (sugary splurges cause MORE sugary splurges & addictions)
8. Gave up flavored waters & high sugar creamers and coffees🥤☕️ (occasionally I’ll have True Lime brand but not daily, & gave up diet pop many YEARS ago)
9. Stop buying triggers that I know damn well I can’t control my cravings around🤦🏼‍♀️🚫🆘

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Crunch

SO GOOD! So many asked for this recipe when I showed it on my story the other day! You might wanna save this recipe my friend!

The best way I can describe this is like a Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Crunch🍪Ice Cream Blizzard🍦🍫… but it’s actually 3-4 servings of nutrient dense & low glycemic fruits and vegetables!! 🤯I had this post workout today👌🏼

Here’s the recipe I used …
* 1 1/4 cup ice
* 3/4 cup Unsweetened almond milk
* 1 Scoop Vegan Chocolate superfood
* 1/4 teaspoon xanthan gum
* Blend in blender

I’m sure you could achieve this with just a protein powder if you don’t care about getting in greens🍃 and micro nutrients with this🌱

Stir in…
* 2 Tbsp “Just Great Stuff” (or your peanut powder of choice)
* 1 crumbled PB Chocolate beachbar

Leg day for you to save! I went light yesterday with this since I didn’t do a hard leg day on vacation & wanted to be able to walk today!🚶‍♀️

🎯LEG DAY🎯
Warm up first. I giant set’d these, ie combine #1-3 and do 3 sets of that, then 3 sets of 4-6, then 3 sets of 7-9, finish with 3 sets of #10. I did 12-20 reps ..listen to your body☝🏼)

2. Leg Press Smith Machine
3. Romanian Deadlift
4. Cable Kickback
5. Weighted Hip Thrust
6. KB Squat/Goblet Squat
7. Leg Extensions
8. Hamstring Curl
9. Bulgarian Split Lunges
10. Monster Walks & Side Steps – banded

Leggings or shorts?

Leggings or shorts? I prefer leggings over shorts for sure!!

The back of my legs is my “trouble zone” & unfortunately you can’t target fat loss to one particular area only .. we gain and lose weight in these areas according to our genetics but we CAN change our natural shape & fight gravity to improve the appearance of an area thru building muscle!!

Muscle in that area does NOT make the fat go away in that area, but the more muscle you have, the more energy (food) your body requires to maintain itself throughout your day & night😴.. so yah, with strength training💪🏼 plus right-for-you nutrition🍃, sleep, stress reduction🧘🏼‍♂️ and gut health, eventually your trouble zone can BE GONE🤸🏼‍♂️.

But the reality is, some of us are just more prone to gaining weight in a certain area or having cellulite even with a very healthy body composition & some of us are also prone to lack of skin elasticity (ie skin that doesn’t “snap back”).

For example, there can be a woman with 30% body fat or more and have ZERO cellulite & at the same time, a woman with 18% body fat can have it. I have it whether you can see it here or not. I always HAVE even when I was leaner.

Same goes for skin elasticity .. some women have multiple pregnancies and their skin just SNAPS BACK😮

I’m not dwelling on what I can’t control ☝🏼and I hope you aren’t either! Sexy is confidently rockin what you HAVE & working on yourself from the inside out!💃🏽

What was your FAVE childhood food?!When I was little, I used to eat 4 hot dogs in one sitting🤦🏼‍♀️plus dessert!

Hot dogs, pizza, pop tarts, cinnamon sugar toast & Cap’n Crunch cereal .. pretty much sums up my diet until I was about 14.

Luckily mom & dad didn’t let it get TOO out of hand and I was active in sports and dance. BUT …sometimes those childhood habits still TRY to creep in as an adult 🤷🏼‍♀️

Fairly common habits for a kid/teen BUT☝🏼don’t just give up fighting your old ways and LIKEWISE, don’t give up on educating & transitioning your kids to better eating AND getting in exercise!

Get educated on what’s REALLY being put in our food (for ex: the @131methodbook , the Shawn the Model Health Show podcast) & then get creative with food variety & exercise☝🏼
.
Don’t force it but give them a reason to WANT to (you’ll run faster🏃‍♀️, you’ll jump higher, your swing will be stronger⚾️, you’ll think more clearly for the test🙇🏼‍♀️, you’ll grow faster, etc)

They’ll thank u later when they’re having an easier time with body image💃🏽, mental health🙇🏼‍♀️, and weight management thru college, thru that first stressful career👩🏼‍💻, the stress of debt 💴 , relationships💏, starting a family 👶🏼 , etc.

Sorry this so long😵 but I give support & accountability to women every day who have a poor body image🚶‍♀️ and are trying to break unhealthy relationships with food (& often alcohol). I don’t want your daughter (or son) to need me! Instead I hope they educate & lead the next generation.

Don’t Take This for Granted

No, I’m not one of those fit pro’s with 6-pack abs or thigh gap …& it would be cool to be able to follow that statement with “but I can squat 200lbs!!” but ..I can’t do that either… not even close☺️. My approach is overall balance of feeling healthy and happiness more-so than fitness. I just happen to enjoy a really athletic tough workout! Gives me a high, makes me feel ALIVE.

I actually DID have a thigh gap once (in my ballet years) & I never want to go back to what that required for *my* body. NEVER. I’m inspired by women of ALL shapes and sizes for who they ARE & what they do with what they HAVE 💥💥💥 I see overcoming struggle & finding solutions as SUPER inspirational and that looks different on all of us.

LISTEN..don’t you dare take for granted that each day you’re given a chance to improve🤸🏼‍♂️

Fitness is SO MUCH FUN if you shift your mindset to “what can my body do?” vs “how much does it weigh?” “how does it compare?”
