Keep Things Simple

I get stress, anxiety, fear, overwhelm like anyone else but one thing I have learned is to drown out negativity, excuses, & anything that may distract my top priorities that keep me happy & feeling balanced.

Know what you want, believe you can achieve it, pray about it, be a student who learns AND quickly applies even in the presence of fear, & don’t let others’ opinions deter you. I tend to WAY overthink things & then WAY UNDERthink other things!

But I’ve learned to keep things as SIMPLE as possible and protect my positive mindset more than ANYTHING & just be grateful

But that said, it honestly can FIRST get very complicated to keep things simple; i.e saying no, making sacrifices, taking chances, embracing the unknown, making changes in your schedule, ditching the need for perfectionism, making changes in your lifestyle, hiring help, etc., ..these are all very hard & complicated but sooooooo worth it to have the simple things in life that make you happy

Grilling Out

It’s balmy out today in Ohio (sorta Sunny & 60 ) so Matt & I grilled outside for lunch ..turkey burgers & asparagus!

Working from home doesn’t suck.

Btw, I dipped this in that Opadipity Greek Yogurt (Chipotle Flavor) that I’ve talked about before. It’s

Gut Health

Are you less & less tempted to eat junk or ANYTHING processed after listening to my sister’s recent podcasts with the gut health experts talking about how that impacts our ability to absorb nutrients and ability to lose fat?

All the talk of processed foods & foods that essentially turn to sugar, fueling the bad bacteria in your gut making us more susceptible to bloating, fatigue, brain fog, insomnia, disease, cancer and making our bodies more prone to holding onto unecessary FAT.. ughh Definitely makes it easier to want to eat healthier, right ?!

Anyway.. I’m never perfect but always trying to fight that urge to just order pizza & eat chocolate. I mean ..once in a while …FOR SURE

This was Tempeh, sliced sweet potatoes w/cinnamon, avocado, & baba ganoush! Baba Ganoush is very similar tasting to hummus. I just sliced the tempeh & put in the pan with olive oil (I usually prefer coconut oil & Braggs liquid aminos instead of low sodium soy but couldn’t find it since renovating our kitchen).

No Regrets

Workout done !

Wasn’t in the mood to do it but more-so wasn’t in the mood to regret NOT doing it

Flashback to my teaching days

Flashback Monday to my teaching days
Yes, those chains were absolutely necessary!

Such great memories!

It was either a LOUD, dark #turbokick dance party or it was bootcamp, or “muscle madness” sweatsesh ..either way, I left DRENCHED in sweat & on a high!

But outside of that class, I was struggling trying to do it all –be a good mom, wife, employee, eat right, get enough sleep, etc.

Finally I realized I was just working harder, not smarter. I owe a lot to my sister for pretty blatantly pointing these things out to me

I initially stopped teaching due to a hamstring pull & wanting to focus on my BB Coachimg business more. I was working fulltime; demanding hours at the time & wanted to build my business to someday be a stay-at-home mom and fitness business owner, without the overhead, financial risk, major stress, and employees. I’m so happy I took that leap of faith and chose to have a Coach business.

I could go back to teaching at any point now, but idk… I actually LOVE the schedule-freedom that I have helping people online as a fitness coach from HOME! Too many times I was stressed out prepping for class or leaving what little family time I had, to go teach. I still REALLY LOVE all the people and the memories though

If you teach & love it, believe me, I get it! But kudos to you, because it’s a LOT of work & you have to do it purely out of love for it! And yes, I do still teach at coach events & with friends!!

We cannot take our health or life for granted

Sooo sore today from doing my own leg day workout (search #jenelleslegday on IG) with Jen yesterday that when I did Turbo 40, I had to force myself to make it thru even 20 minutes & then I figured that was good enough cardio for the day.

I just wanted to at least be warmed up enough to do a massive stretch sesh. My glutes felt like they had metal plates in them & my legs felt like bricks.

I wanted to stop 5 minutes in but then I thought of all the exercisers out there who are injured, handicapped, have genetic debilitating conditions, are recovering from something, etc & they fight thru it. So I just did what I could. I can only IMAGINE what some people go thru daily.

I talked to an incredible woman last night who suffers DAILY to do the most minor things, but she still modifies thru her BB workouts – such an inspiration! It’s like my dad, he lost his leg in a motorcycle accident; things we do daily will always be a struggle for him. But he doesn’t complain & he does SO much!

I’m just reminding myself & others, we really CANNOT take any part of our health or life for granted. It’s true that what you take for granted daily, someone else is praying for.

Almond Flour Wraps

I often use Ezekiel wraps but I am REALLY liking these almond flour (grain-free ) from Siete! Bought from Amazon of course!

They ripped a little but still stayed wrapped.

WHAT’S IN THE WRAP? WildPlanet tuna mixed with plain Greek Yogurt & mustard, greens, avocado & tomatoes .

You don’t gain anything from stressing

Really, what good does it do to stress/dwell on something?

Pray, do your best, and let the rest fall into place where it’s supposed to.

Thank you @ power of speech on IG for this simple truth!!

Sweet Craving

Maybe not the BEST habit but when I’m craving something sweet at night, I like to have some decaf coffee w/Califia almond milk creamer & stevia . Most of the time, I don’t even finish it ..it’s more of a distraction from something else.

What do YOU do?

Don’t Skip Strength Training!

Music is back on this time.. cool??

And just a reminder, don’t skip legday or strength training in general! You quickly LOSE muscles you don’t use!

Lost muscle is what causes a slower metabolism & sagging body parts !

But most importantly, strength training leads to confidence, bone health, injury prevention, & keeps you feeling, looking & functioning at your best
