Involve your spouse/significant other in your healthy lifestyle

Does your spouse/significant other workout & try to eat healthy like you?

I feel lucky Matt & I have that in common and always have but I wish more of you had that too! Here’s some things you could try:

1. Enter yourselves into something competitive together, something you’d both like, since he/she might not care initially about “fitness” as being competitive & feeling like an athlete. Before you know it, he/she might want to become fitter just to WIN. But then they start seeing the inward & outward benefits😉

2. Graduallyyyyyy & subtly transition certain foods/meals/snacks to healthier choices (☝🏼you don’t have to mention it’s healthy if that’s an annoying “thing” your partner thinks you push).

3. Does your significant other have aches/pains/signs of aging/muscle loss/illness/cancer in the family or cancer fears? Maybe put on a podcast in the car (as if it’s just for you to hear😉) but simultaneously educating them that sugar, processed foods, lack of exercise, excessive drinking, & stress are all compounding to feed those ailments but certain nutrition & supplements can actually act as medicine to fight them all.

For those that have converted someone, please share how YOU did it!🙏🏻

Anniversary Celebration

Matt & I took a little road trip away to celebrate our anniversary (which is actually Aug 20 but this week worked better to celebrate).

We aren’t picky about where we go as long as we can relax, eat great food, workout & shop!

Mom and Grandma (Happy Mother’s Day)

Such an awesome Mother’s Day!!

Grateful for my mom who’s ALWAYS been there for me & has taught me more than words can express and my grandma (who just turned 93 & is still as funny & hip as ever! )

Grateful for Matt

Just a random pic of me and Matt with Chalene & Bret’s dog Rocco. Would u believe we met when we were 12yrs old at the Lake? Chalene introduced us (she was 15 at the time) because we were both really shy and into sports.

The joke is that we walked the lake together but on opposite sides of the street (umm..NOT true!!.. only when our parents & older teasing siblings were watching) Can anyone relate?!

All I knew was he was cute & made me laugh like no other! #gratefulthankfulblessed we have each other

Mindset is Everything

I’d change that shirt to “Healthy, Happy Family = Happy Mom!

IDK about you but if the rest of the family is struggling in any way, I feel inner torment and stress.. big time. I know things can’t always be rainbows and unicorns, I’m just being honest,… if Matt and Tyler aren’t doing well in some way, I’m not doing well.
And yah, the 3 dogs have that impact on me too.. lol
Right ??

Being healthy and fit can definitely improve how adults AND kids feel about themselves. It helps their mood, their sleep, their confidence, their brain function, etc etc.

I don’t know about your kid(s) but I personally think finding foods that the whole family WANTS to eat, that aren’t ALL carbs, is challenging! We NEED carbs, but we don’t need unlimited carbs or processed carbs …and neither do our kids. But.. it can be tough especially with busy schedules! Matt and I are NOT perfect eaters ourselves but we eat about 80-90% clean and workout consistently. But it’s NOT been easy to keep our son on track however, I’m pretty proud of how we’ve done so far.

I’ll never forget when one of his friend’s parents introduced him to a REAL happy meal from McDonalds! Umm… we had faked the whole “happy meal” thing and we were getting away with it for awhile , but all it takes is a little exposure to certain foods and before you know it, that’s EXACTLY what they ask for. It’s BOUND to happen but Ughhhhh (sure, i know a little isn’t going to hurt anyone, I just mean “ugh, we can’t let this become a habit”).

I know the feeling of a being in a BIND and you’ll grab the goldfish or order the pizza.. believe me, been there, done that! Guilty! But along the way, I learned lots of tips, tricks and the discipline of parenting, to raise a pretty healthy, happy fit kid!

Unfortunately what’s marketed as healthy and “all natural” might have 50g of sugar. Natural doesn’t equal healthy or balanced nutrition that supports HEALTH or a healthy WEIGHT.

Think pretzels, crackers, yogurts, goldfish, granola bars, enriched flour sandwiches, high sugar juices, chips, etc. It’s everywhere! The whole family needs to be on the same page – but guess what.. you can do that and make them feel like it’s on THEIR terms! Mindset/perspective is everything!

Grateful for my parents

Good laughs this summer with Dad, mom, Chalene & our younger brother Bill

So grateful for everything our parents taught us. I try to empower women every day because so many didn’t have that growing up.

If you’re a parent, I’m sure you realize those seemingly insignificant negative comments sometimes stick with a kid in the worst way & on the other hand, the seemingly insignificant POSITIVE comments can shape their future.

Being a parent is SO hard & we’re certainly NOT perfect, just putting it out there in case the reminder was needed

who should you marry

Who should you marry?

When I was a teen, one of my friend’s moms was telling my friend to marry someone rich. Whaaaat?!

Looking back.. maybe she was joking?? I thought it was a crazy statement even then.

I’ve never liked things handed to me that I didn’t earn.. not things or money. Marry or be with someone who makes you laugh, who believes in the same priorities you do, who you respect, respects THEMSELVES and respects you, someone who does the little things for you -without you even asking- and who is your biggest fan even when things are tough.

And ask yourself if you are doing those same things in return

who should you marry

Feeling Grateful with Family

Happy Sunday friends!

Great weekend visiting my nephew & being w/my family Feeling grateful . Headin home

Me, Chalene and our younger brother Bill

Me, Chalene and our younger brother Bill at our parents’ 50th wedding anniversary!

He’s not on social media much but he & his wife Gwen have 4 amazing kids and their own successful business!

Happy Anniversary – 23 Years!

23 years?! Yeppp!!
Happy Anniversary to my best friend & the best Dad to our son!!

Matt & I married young (right out of college) & I’m sure many thought it wouldn’t last!

But we first met when we were 12 yrs old (met at the lake) & we hung out like friends in the summers –no one was funnier and more athletic!

I knew his priorities, his humor & his love of sports and fitness lined up with mine!

Obviously not all marriages work out, & it may be better to part ways, but we feel blessed to have made it 23yrs & plan on the rest of our lives
